A Night Of Horrors

Once upon a time, there lived an old woman called Padmavathi. She was very old but wise. Her children had all grown up and had gone their ways. Her son was completing his degree of doctoring in U.S.A. Her daughter was leading a beautiful life in Singapore. Padhmavati's children had not met her for 3 years.

One day, Padmavathi was feeling very sad, as she was missing her children. Her thoughts were interrupted by the knocking of her door. She was surprised as no one used to visit her, and here is a person who is visiting her right at her doorstep. She opened the door to find a dirty looking old man, who was very shabby. He told ,'Ajji, I am from a very far place, and I have come here to seek alms from some people like you.' Padmavathi was suspicious but went inside the kitchen to get something for the poor man. But when she came into the living room with the alms, she was astonished to find no one in her small abode. She got scared but went to the door and closed the door. Suddenly she heard a noise from outside saying,'Ajji please open the door. I am outside. But she was not going to open the door! How much he wailed and shouted but she did not open the door.

Night fell in her town , but Padmavathi did not dare to open the door, but her toilet was outside. After some time, she could not control and came outside slowly. She went to the washroom which was a few steps away from the house. After the washroom business, she came outside and was slowly going to her house, when a man was running towards her shouting something. She was too scared to even budge and she fainted because of fright of what can he do to her.

"Wake up amma, wake up. " Padmavathi woke up and her joy knew no bounds when sitting beside her was her very own son. Then she understood that he was the man who had come to her home. She was even happy when he told her that he got his degree and that from now on, he will live with her forever. Then they lived happily for a long time.
