A love that was never mine

  It was a rainy day. Cause of the whole day raining, I took out my laptop and started working at home. Manav my husband was still in a bed. Finally, after I did my work it was time to do some fun of my better half. We and Manav were school friends. We used to enjoy each other accompany at any time. As when we completed our 10th we promised each other to always stay in touch. After I completed my MBA I got a perfect position with a handsome salary. Even my Prince i.e. Manav became Engineer and settled down. Cause of the busy schedule we were unable to share our thoughts with each other. But finally, he took a forward step and proposed to me on my birthday in front of our batch mates and my parents. As we both had a great match of habits and support from our family too. Without wasting time we got marry in the same year with all the wishes and blessings.

Now come to the present, my Prince was waiting for me as when he hears the sound of my bangles and closes his eyes by pretending that he is sleeping. A naughty thought just came in my mind and I slowly slide up my bangles which unable to makes sound of them. I picked up a cushion to and hit him on back as I planned but Manav sensed it already and after he got hit he caught my hand and pull me near bedside. He hugged me so tightly. After taking so much effort finally I released by him. He went to take bath and I rushed in kitchen. My in laws went to meet some friends of them. So, for the first time I and Manav got privacy. It was quiet good as we got some quality time to spend with each other. He finished his breakfast and switch on the TV. After cleaning the kitchen counter I also joined him. He was searching for a movie to watch so one after another he changed the channel. Hardly after 5 minutes he stopped and put the remote control on teapoy. A movie was going to start in just few minutes. " Kuch Kuch hota hai" I read that name and stood up. Manav saw me and caught my hand. As I turn back, he asked me to sit with him by showing fingers near sofa. I was so worried. There was a weird story behind my ignorance of this movie. 

    In my college days, I was a very fun-loving student and apple of the eye of everyone. In those days, our professor used to give us project. It may like individual, group or couple projects. I chose an individual project but cause there was a limit on the number of projects professor asked some girls to take group or couple project instead of individual. I was one of them too. Now, the question arise that whom should I choose as my partner in project.

A guy came to me and asked me to choose his friend as my partner. Even I accept his suggestion. When I asked him about his friend, he point out one guy who was looking very shy. I remembered that even in lectures he never talked with anyone. At a moment, a thought comes in my mind that how will do the project as if he never talks with me? Next day, we met in library after the lecture. We both prepared a list that what material we needed for the project. As per the list we divide the work with each by deciding mutually. In just seven days we finished it with proper information, pictures and other things. We were the first who submitted it first to the professor and the most important thing was we won Best Project award too.

From that day we became good friends. His name was Ujjwal and he belongs to lower class family. In project work I asked his name by myself. As the days are passing, we start spending more time with each other like other friends. When Manav comes to meet me I shared the whole routine to him. Once while talking about my project award I told him Ujjwal. After getting the details Manav asked me that he wanted to meet Ujjwal. I decided to invite him to my birthday party. When I invited him very first he rejected that but after I forced him he accepts it. The party was at Manav's place which was new for Ujjwal so I waited for him outside. Ujjwal came on 7 pm and met me outside. But when he saw so many people inside he refused to enter with me. Manav noticed my absence and comes outside and saw both of us. Without thinking anything Manav holds my hand and push me inside with Ujjwal. After the celebration everyone sign off from his place. I, Manav and Ujjwal was there only. Manav and I decided to drop Ujjwal at his place by car. He was feeling uncomfortable by our hospitality as Manav started cracking jokes to make the atmosphere easy.

Manav was moving car as getting directed from Ujjwal. It took 30 minutes to reach at Ujjwal's home. It was a chawl where he stopped the car. When we 3 came out of car the people started staring us like they are watching something weird. Ujjwal thanked me and Manav and went from his own way by taking a right turn. On that day something maybe happened as after the day Ujjwal starts spending more time with me. The days are passing normally with projects, lectures, and functions. We graduated from college and Manav decides to leave India with me for further stuy. Before we departure from here suddenly Ujjwal came at my place and asked us to spend some time with him even we both agreed. Manav suggested watching movies at my place. Next day we all three sit and I switch on the TV. After shuffling some channels Ujjwal stop me and asked me to watch his favorite movie i.e. Kuch Kuch hota hai. We all watched that movie and had our lunch. Our flight was after two days so when Ujjwal got this news in those two days we also saw the same movie Kuch Kuch hota hai. 

    Finally, the day of our departure came and we two left the home to reach the airport. We both shocked when we noticed Ujjwal there. When Ujjwal saw us he came in front of me and handed a bunch of Roses and some Greetings cards to me. I was just quiet and calm. Whatever he gave me I took that and keep it in my bag. After waiving hands till 10 minutes Ujjwal left the airport. In the flight Manav asked me to check the cards but I was not in the mood. After granted my permission when we reached in our destination Manav checked that for me and shocked me by telling that Ujjwal likes me. His greetings were so much like a Proposal. I ignored it and concentrate on my study. I completed my study and come back to hometown where Manav stays there to finish his projects related to study. As when I came here, I got the worst news from known friend that Ujjwal threatened my family in my absence. Even he tried to force them to call me back in India. He also started consuming so much alcohol and cause of its effects he died in a very bad situation. After that all things Manav came to India we got married. Manav pinched me slightly to check that am I watching the movie or not. My tears gave him the answer and he wiped them from my face. Manav just said a simple thing that, “it was not your fault. When he threatened your family he lost you at that time. Forget everything." I just smile and hug him.
