Chapter 29

Sandeep asked Roslyn “do you like history?”. “yes… I absolutely love history” She replied... Sandeep looked at me, I behaved like I never heard their conversation and as we stepped into the college Roslyn looked right into my eyes “alright John.. I guess will see you later” and walked away... I gave a broad smile to Sandeep, he had a smug smile on his face “so now I understood why you started liking history”...as we turned around to leave we saw Roslyn running back to us “John will you drop me home in the evening.. I am scared… you know.. he might…”, I replied “sure I will you don't have to worry” and she gave me a smile and walked away... 

“What? Are you gonna drop her home?” Sandeep asked. I blushed a little bit “yes, don’t make a big deal of it now…” I explained to him about the guy who was following her... “John, you will have to admit that you have fallen for Roslyn”, I replied “stop saying that I have fallen for her and I am behind her…it's not okay!! I just like being with her and talking to her that's it”... Sandeep gave a sarcastic smile and said: “come on let's go to the class”.

As we entered the classroom Ajith said: "We have so much entertainment ahead of us today..." “What entertainment?” Sandeep and I asked... Ahilan said, “Sean has challenged to propose to Roslyn today at the lunch break”. I didn't like it so I kept quiet... “Oh really? I'm waiting to see how she’ll react dude… go ahead I am sure she will say "YES," said Sandeep... “ John? What do you think?” he asked looking at me with that sarcastic smile again... irritated I replied “what is there for me to say Sandeep? He laughed out loud, all of us looked at Sandeep he said nothing “I am excited. finally Sean found a girl for himself before we graduate”... The lecturer came in but not even a single word got into my ears, I remembered asking Roslyn about Sean, but she said nothing… I couldn’t help but wonder if she will accept his proposal… the first half got over just by thinking about Sean and Roslyn, finally, it was lunch break...

Sean said “I'm feeling nervous dude!” for which Ahilan replied “as if you are proposing to a girl for the first time…. go ahead hero” he said... Sean, Ajith, Ahilan and Sandeep walked down I was still sitting in the classroom, Sandeep came back to me “come on dude let's see what's gonna happen” I said “Stop bothering me Sandeep, I am not interested in all this crap” but he dragged me away.... I was also curious to know if Roslyn will accept him but I didn't want her to see me, so Sandeep and I stood a little far away and watched them. We couldn't hear a single word... The minute Roslyn walked away I ran to Sean “so Sean what did she say?” He looked sad, “she has no such intentions towards me”, Sandeep said, “don't you give up dude keep trying”...

I gave a deadly look at him and walked away... I was happy she denied his proposal but I was very much irritated... It was evening.. I knew I should drop Roslyn home but on purpose I sat down in the classroom, hoping she will come in search of me... I was not disappointed ... Ajith saw her coming and nudged Sean “look man Roslyn has come, looks like she's come to meet you”... Sean was excited he walked to her and asked: “Hey Roslyn! have you come to meet me?” She said “no.. I am here to meet John”, my lips bloomed with a smile, whereas Sean looked disappointed... Looking at me she asked, “is it gonna take time for you John?” I shook my head no, “shall we go then? she asked with little hesitation I said: “yeah, let's go”... I waved goodbye to my friends and went with her.

I felt really happy the minute she sat behind me on my bike... I kept riding as she guided... I didn't want to talk to her about Sean but to my surprise, she asked me if I was aware of the incident. “Yes, I heard about it”...Why did you say no, you guys are good friends, aren’t you?” I asked... She said “we should fall in love naturally…no one should ask for it...anyway, forget about it, do you know what John? A lot of girls in my class have a crush on you, they must be jealous of me because you are my friend and you are dropping me home”...

I did not reply... She asked, “are you in love with someone?” I shook my head no, “How come?, you are such a handsome guy and in the college, I am sure you might have got so many proposals, did you not even like a single girl?” I replied, “I too believe in what you said, love should happen naturally”... We almost reached her place and she said: “John, good you dropped me today, look he is standing there with his friends”... I said, “just ignore him”.

As I was about to leave, that guy stopped my bike and enquired about our relationship I thought we would end up with an ugly fight but to my surprise, he said he loved her sincerely he wants her to be happy so he will never disturb her again... I shook hands with him, thanked him for understanding and said goodbye... While riding back home I decided not to tell Roslyn about the guy because if I tell her then it wouldn't be necessary for me to pick and drop her... 

Next day as planned I picked Roslyn and the minute we reached college Sean caught hold of me... He asked “ I was running behind her trying to impress her and what not... you did nothing of that sort.. but I don't understand how she became this close to you?”.” she is just a good friend of mine Sean nothing more” I said, I knew Sean started suspecting something but I didn't care much about it... I dropped and picked her up for almost a week, I got to know more about her and started liking her even more. one day she said “John looks like that guy believed that I'm in a relationship with you, I'm sure he is not gonna trouble me anymore, from tomorrow I will travel by myself, Thank you so much !” she said I was disappointed but ended up saying ok.

It was close to 2 months I knew Roslyn now, neither did I accepted that I was in love with her nor did she show such interest in me and in between Sean kept trying to impress her.

Our Dusshera holidays were about to start and we planned for NCC camp during these holidays, I was excited about the trip because Roslyn would be joining us... I started realising I am in love with her, but my ego stopped from expressing my feelings to her... Our trip was all set,... This NCC trip was something I could never forget in my life, this is when I realized how mad I was about her..

Now (present)

John's phone started ringing, it was Charles... John answered the call, Charles said “how are you, John? Sandeep and I are coming to your office. we will meet you in 15, 20 minutes”. “No Charles I am not at the office, have come to the pub”...” Pub? Ok cool tell me where it is, we will come” he said “I'm with my manager” replied John...

In between Narayan interrupted saying that he has no issues in them joining us, so John told them where exactly he is, “that's quite close by, we will reach in 10 minutes” Charles said.
