A Conversation

It was well past two in the night and in a dark yet cozy room lay the two. She was lying beside him with her head on his chest. "You should go off to sleep now. Let's continue this conversation tomorrow," he said while yawning. "I don't feel sleepy at all. Please talk for some time," she said.

 

"Ummm, ok! let me ask you something." she continued with excitement in her tone. "What did you feel when you saw me for the first time?"

"Well. I was like... I mean how do I put it in words?" he said. "I was not in my senses I guess. You looked stunning then, which you look even now. Your mesmerizing smile, your wide eyes, your pink cheeks, and well everything about you was so overwhelming. I just could not help but fall in love with you that very moment." he said while remembering the day when he had seen her for the first time. 

 

"And?" she asked in a curious tone while looking at him. " And then when you looked at me, I mean it wasn't exactly a look, but just a glance and I was enchanted. I had been waiting for that moment for quite some time and it finally happened. And thank you for making that day special for me forever." he continued while reliving those memories.

 

They had been together for 12 years and shared an extremely close bond. While he was extremely caring, she was equally possessive about him.

 

"Why don't I remember anything about it?" she asked curiously. He just smiled. "You know I had waited for a long time to be able to talk to you, to hear your voice, to be able to communicate with you. And when we did, it was Magical. Your tender voice was so soothing to my ears that I wished you could talk to me day in and day out." he said.

 

She just kept staring at the fan while listening to his version. "Tell me one thing. Why do you love me so much?" came another question from her. He just smiled. "Please. You need to answer this." she pleaded.

"Well, I love you because I love you. Simple." he smilingly answered. She followed it up with a stare. 

 

"Ok! I love you because You are beautiful, I love you for the purity of your heart and the beauty of your soul. I love you because you complete me. You make me a better person. I love you for you make me smile by just smiling yourself. Your Innocence, your sensibilities, the way you handle me, take care of me...for everything. And above all, I love you for you love me." he replied with a smile.

 

This time around there was no reaction. She had fallen asleep. He just looked at her and smiled. He lifted her head off his chest and made her sleep next to him. He had a sip of water from the glass kept on the side table and switched off the lights. He was about to go off to sleep and suddenly "You know Dad? I love you more than you love me." she said in a sleepy tone. "Because you are the Best Father in the world!" saying that she fell asleep.

 

Well, he just kissed her forehead and smiled. After all, those words did bring a lot of joy to a single father of a 12-year-old daughter.
