You Aren’t My Star To Hold

There is a sunset coloured smile

hiding at the back of my head,

not willing to face the world,

with a fear of vanishing without a trace. 

There is a song waiting 

to be sung to the stars,

to tell how much they are loved

and how they belong with us.

There’s an empty dream

filled with those songs of happiness,

An empty dream,

where my thoughts are hiding 

and my words are trying to breathe.

There is a fire burning in my soul

that’s keeping me from being cold,

from the thoughts that aren’t golden

and from the hopes that are heaven-high,
