Why do I Need a Daughter?

Why do I Need a Daughter?

2 mins

If you ask me, I wish for a daughter.

She has these eyes small and shiny,

like those of the tit on my crape jasmine.

Little tigereyes they may've been.

How many lives that eyes may've seen?

Her smile reflects my ancestor's smile.

And her tears are little ocean beads.

She gazes and the Spring goes shy.

She will defy stalking demons this life,

and masked faces and sycophants.

Last life would have made her a doe,

and your slave- speechless to the core.

You may've hung the phone upon her,

Or drawn acidic icons on her for a "nay".

You've pushed her face after making love.

And stood free in a tag of "busy" for zilch.

You have taken respect but've not given.

And have solely taken her for granted.

You have asked shameless, for her nudes,

when you've not kissed her eyes or heart.

And you may've left her alone at an aisle-

of forgotten promises and barren love.

No more tears and debacles for her.

For I'll teach her to fly with burnt wings.

Yes, so I want a daughter.

To tell her to wear her scars proudly.

That purging emotions is not loathsome.

That the roundness of her breasts-

is not a yardstick to her persona.

That the black lips, or short hair-

or love handles are not less 'womanly'.

That an honest heart is all she needs.

I dont want to raise a meek damsel,

who wait for her knight on white horse.

I want to raise a true woman.

Yes, I want a daughter.
