When I Woke Up
When I Woke Up
A marvellous veil of comfort,
The Darkness underneath,
A surreptitious pain at every pulse of my heart.
The days, I slept were marked,
By these colourless oddities,
The extraordinary pilgrimage
Called life,
Spent in constant vigil.
Seeing the face of failure,
I failed to realize the meaning,
Of complacency,
That when one sleeps,
Failure enters the abode,
Without invitation.
And then I heard the call,
It was a name,
Not mine,
But yours.
My Light,
The Master of my heart,
The pulse of my soul,
The Lord of eternal life,
I heard your name being pronounced.
I woke up,
With a heavy heart,
Regretting the time lost in sleep,
Yet happy that I was awake,
And well, 'cause
When I woke up,
I saw your face,
The light,
The way.
