Waiting

Waiting

The eyes gazed on the lane,

With every minute waiting,

For him to come by,

Touch her and say "Hi!"

In the sun scorching,

The lady kept waiting

With just an instinct hope,

Looking at the isolated road.

Day and night radio was on,

To hear if any odds fall upon,

Everything seemed still,

When enemy gave up on will.

Today he will be back,

Her life's penance, Jack,

She kept holding her breath; standing,

With great enthusiasm, waiting.

A sound she heard,

Of a van; having the flag,

It was the Head,

A soldier he lead.

She was handed the flag,

Wrapped in it was ash

"Brave you son Jack," said Head

Turning back they departed.

Smile sparkled on her face,

Drops rolled down,

She sat on the floor and kept sitting,

She was now with Jack,

End of her waiting....
