Vigil

Vigil

I spent the whole night staring at my window

Looking at the vehicles passing by

People, laughing and crying and running around

Until the clock struck twelve

Everything went quiet

The crying of the dogs came to a stop

Even the moon hid somewhere behind the shadows

All that was left in the sky were the stars

So far away that their light can't even touch the earth

As if the universe is stripped of its glare

Still when the sun is yet to wake,

My ghosts and visions call out to me

It's been months since I've had a dream

It's been months since I've fallen asleep
