Veil
Veil
The winds echoed, the leaves rustled madly,
Whistling out to you, calling tearfully,
The clouds from afar had gathered at your behest,
Mystifying the paths, intense in their zest.
And though the sun was fiery, dissipating the mist,
The storm was near and made the glow desist.
A thousand fireflies lit up, illuminating the way
As I trod ahead, uncertain; astray.
Where were you gone? Why did you leave?
Were you lingering still? I searched for a reason to believe.
Hopes seemed shallow, the world a gaping abyss,
All hopes transpired amidst the heaving winds.
'Come back' I cried, 'come back to me,
Come back to this world, together we'll be'
The echo faded fast, into deep oblivion,
The sunshine and the winds, all were now gone.
There you stood, looking at me,
At the other end of something, what was that in between?
Through a watery veil, just so very near,
Or mirage it was, hollow and far?
Was that another dimension, where you've now gone?
Will you not come back, for another new dawn?
Is it what they call, the veil of death?
That had taken away your precious earthly breath!
Is that where you are? In the world beyond?
Is there no way back, no more soulful bond?
That will bring you back, here to your beloved,
Dissipating that abyss, through the misty veil?
The winds echoed, the leaves rustled madly,
Whistling out to you, calling tearfully,
But all that was there, was transforming to a blur,
Only the gale rushing off, whistling afar.
There stood nothing, darkness ahead calling,
The beautiful world unperturbed, and me in between…
