Unbiased Pleas

Unbiased Pleas

I used to bathe in your neglect,
Choke on the poison
From the well of your insecurities
And beg for one more drop with a dying breath
I used to love myself in your stygian stare,
Wear your mood across tense shoulders;

A leaden cloak draped over my Sunday best,
Praying at an altar forged to a tyrant,
Unanswered pleas turned to dust at your feet.
I used to bleed my own hope 'till it all dried out,
Convinced I was the villain in the drama you direct.
But it is I who yell "Cut!"

I am quite finished.
