TREE OF MY HEART
TREE OF MY HEART
There are days when I’d give anything
to be alone with you,
to dream beneath your branches
with the sun shining through . . .
spinning away the minutes
into soft golden threads,
changing, rearranging stale thoughts
stuck in my head.
Oh, tree of my heart,
in this meadow I love so,
my dreams live in your branches
as you stand here and grow . . .
never leaving or deceiving
the strength of your seed,
past the heartache of time,
where so many hearts bleed.
Oh, to be alone with you,
my blue spruce of love,
to pierce the sky with you,
pulling heaven from above,
close to the earth where
nature’s spirits dance and meet
on blades of grass, translucent
petals growing at your feet.
Oh, tree of my heart,
oh, great teacher of my soul,
Silently within me, your life
becomes my goal . . .
take my dreams with you
and all I aspire to be,
as you reach up through a cloudy sky,
please kiss the sun for me.
