Towards Freedom
Towards Freedom
She was born, such a sweet child
Though her first sound was a cry
But her soul smiled
"I will be loved and treasured"
And will be brave and wild!
But as she grew,
Her wild side was restyled
You are a girl they said -
You can't do this, this aint right!
So you must reconcile,
She did, never complaining a while!
She was intelligent and so bright,
She had a bright future in her sight
"You are of age, marry you should".
Oh! she such a fairchild,
Walked the aisle!
Marriage was her destination,
So she was made to believe,
A journey that began with hope,
Strangulated her like a rope,
Abuses, accusations and being belittled
She always felt she was walking a tight rope!
"You must make it work" was the constant advice,
Adjustments she made,
Compromised she did,
But the abuses didn't fade!
For years she was beguiled,
Always being reviled,
Oh, she felt so deprived!
Then one day, re-emerged her wild side,
She dropped her plastic smile,
She reached for help,
That helped her flutter her feathers
She learnt to soar wild into the beautiful blue sky!
