The Waiting Heart

She waits forgetting her breath, 

For news of her beloved's path, 

The battle rages, far away, 

And she can only hope and pray.

Her mind is troubled, full of fear, 

As she imagines what may appear, 

Will he come back, safe and sound, 

Or will she be left with nothing but ground?

The destiny of the nation hangs in the balance, 

As she awaits the news with a heart full of valiance, 

For she knows his fight is for right, 

Her love for him is her strength to fight.

Through the long nights, she waits and pines, 

With thoughts of him, a constant shrine, 

And though the future may be blurred, 

Her faith in him will never be overthrown.

For he's the hero that she loves, 

A symbol of valor and her manly resort, 

And though the battle may be tough, 

She knows that he will always be enough.

So let the battle rage on and on, 

For she knows that her love will never be gone,

And when the dust finally settles down, 

She'll be there, with her love that knows no bounds.
