The Tree

The Tree

Reaching out towards the stars,

Spreading my branches all around,

As tall and mighty, as I may be,

My roots remain firmly embedded in the ground.

Always kind, I never hesitate,

To share my fruits with anyone,

Caring for and nurturing the undergrowth beneath,

Providing shade and shelter to the traveler from the sun.

Cyclonic winds and torrential rain,

The worst of nature, I have braved it all,

But in the face of adversity,

I may have swayed but I did not fall.

And even if I finally lost the fight,

I still managed to remain useful,

A productive resource from which you can make,

Furniture and paper, products and tools.

But as deforestation continues unimpeded,

Someday you will see the last of me,

But before I become an extinct species,

I hope you learn a thing or two from the tree.

"Be like a tree: Stay grounded, keep growing, and know when to let go."
