She/Her
She/Her
She said
Your lips taste like honey when you die
I didn't know how to reply
Just nodded
She said
Your style reminds me of Ginsberg
I blushed
Nowhere near the beat's level, I said.
She was the only person who'd read
All my poetry and short stories
Listen to musings and violent thoughts
I'd go to her for advice, always
Far as I can remember.
Introduced me to literature
Music movies tv shows
Taught how to write
Handled my worst breakups
Told me to stand on my feet
Then live on knees.
We knew each other since kindergarten
Never defined "friends"
But it floated like cherry blossom petals on a river
Our connection.
I couldn't help her
To overcome trauma and abuse
Abysmal scars and fear and hatred
Amalgamated inside
Disintegrated her sanity
Like ants laying eggs inside a corpse's veins.
We're all daffodils and snowflakes and ash
And shit and children of some decaying god
Waiting for the end to come.
