The Sturdy Walls

Walls, these stone walls,

 Everywhere, they stand tall,

 Holding the roof so high,

 Without a fret or a sigh.

 They are study and strong,

 Lifting burden they never go wrong,

 Yet when dressed up,

 With paint and brush,

 They look so stunning,

 They themselves blush.

 They witness the rain and the thunder,

 Then I myself, begin to wonder,

 How much strength they always strive,

 Inside them the catastrophes we survive.

 Each day they see and hear,

 Every laughter and each tear,

 This scaffolding like a parent,

Is witness to,

 Every joy and each fear,

 They like silent observers,

 Acknowledge the sanest,

 In each household,

 Even the ones,

 That are eccentric and queer.

 They are besmeared with secrets,

 Of all the young and old,

 Yet they guard the honor,

And secrets are never retold.

 

They relinquish their might,

 For the wish of all,

They bear the nail and hammer,

 yet stand strong and tall.

They never change their stance,

 No matter with what guise they are chanced,

 They are always honest and true,

 Even when the people screw,

 They give us a place to escape, 

They give  our beautiful ‘Home’ its shape.
