Bharat My Land, My Pride

There is no limit,

to your achievements and glories,

I can go on and on,

Narrating all the daring stories,

Of your glorious past.

Various invaders, 

came over time.

High mountains they did climb,

To reach the land, 

Of the great kings.

Sacrifice of this great land,

In the environment rings.

Here came,

The Portuguese and the French,

Immense wealth and gold also, 

Their greed did not quench.

Then came the English for trade,

Each nook and corner, 

Of our country they did raid,

This did not satisfy their need,

Certainly did not appease their greed, 

They enslaved us…one and all,

Our dignify they ruined and, 

Our pride they did maul,

Even after calling us dogs,

Our country they did not leave, 

And resorted to terrible deeds.

The once golden bird was looted,

The natives were tortured and muted,

The kings once known for the conquests,

Were put in dungeons, 

And did not get food or rest.

Eventually, victory India did see,

15th August even today,

Is celebrated with happiness and glee,

The perpetrators of slavery,

From our country did flee.

Though for this freedom,

A hefty price we did pay,

Our hearts with emotions still sway,

When we hear of the sacrifice

Of Lalaji, Bhagat Singh and all,

Who fought against these goons, 

Laid their chest bare, 

and stood daring and tall.
