The School Mayhem
The School Mayhem
Flag was half hoisted
Across the state
As the mayhem
Of school children’s death
Started pouring in
Some in hospital
And some on spot
In the school itself.
Horrific day
It turned out
As one of the students
Pulled the fire alarm
And started shooting
To see that students run
Berserk and increase casualties
With the limited
Bullets in the revolver
He took his
Revolver out
Went on a shooting spree
Agnostic to who
The student was
Some on their head
Some on toes
Some on shoulders
And some on legs
Students started
Running helter-skelter
Teachers trying to protect
The students
Not knowing what to do
As the Gun shots
Were running through
Teachers tried their best ways
Some under the tables
And some in the corners
Along with the children
Holding them in silence
For minutes together
Not knowing if the end
Has come, or it’s still not over
Blood was flowing
In the corridors
As if small
Blood rivulets
Got formed
And children were
Jumping the corpse
Sometimes unknowingly
Getting stuck on them
In a fear to escape
The bloody shots
He shot and re shot
As students fell by
And tried escaping
Being one amongst
The students
Whom he shot
A while ago.
Parents started
Gathering in the school
In aghast
Not knowing
If their child
Was one among
The few who
Was shot dead
Some were fortunate
And hugged their child
In a sigh of relief
And the others grieved
As in the morning
They saw their
Child ward off
Hale and healthy
But were no more
Some took
Their child on the shoulders
Rushed to the hospital
To see if child could be saved
Some lives lost even before
They reached, some in the hospital
A few fortunate got saved too
Some complained the school
Some the teachers
Some the Governments
But no one knows
What caused the student
To go in a shooting spree
