The Plea of Water

My stream rippled with waves

My vapours condensed into clouds,                            

   With sunlight, my mist painted the sky                                 

 It was all clear, tranquil, unbounded.

From the beginning of the world,                                  

  I have been indispensable,                              

      Proving my might and auspice,                                 

  Binding the majority of the globe.

With the quest for progress among humans                           

 And the will to conquer their dreams,                                

 I was provided as a boon to them,                             

   Helping them progress and flourish.

After all the favours I granted to man,                              

  I was demanded for more and more                          

     And as I kept providing them further,                      

            I found myself exhausted and exploited.

The very humans whom I helped flourish,                   

         Have now made me befouled and tarnished,                   

      Where is my tranquillity and boundlessness now?                  

   And where is my scintillating grace?

I now flow as a mere resource,                            

         Known for my befouled form.                                  

     Man! If you won’t rectify your errors today,                            

I’d be a mere page of your memory tomorrow.
