The Origin Of Sin - Part 9
The Origin Of Sin - Part 9
Scene: GOD and Eve walking through the Garden
GOD Humanity disappoints me, they are being of great potential, capable of doing great things. Yet are lazy, conceited, unable or unwilling to accept situations as they are; always wanting, demanding more and expecting it to happen NOW
EVE You know of this, how?
GOD You and Adam were the first, but not the last human beings I created. I put them in different environments to test how they would or could adapt. There are now a number of you, human beings. Would you like to meet them?
EVE (stunned) Yes, please. There are more of me, I mean more females?
GOD Yes, and more males as well
EVE You have observed this behaviour that concerns as being common to them, I mean us, all?
GOD Unfortunately, yes. True, neither Adam nor yourself has manifested it. You, yourself referred to how difficult it could be in a previous conversation, Yes?
EVE Yes, I did. So what are you going to do, about it?
GOD At the present moment, nothing. I enjoy talking to and with you. I haven’t had the same degree of contact with Adam, but I’ve enjoyed my encounters with him. Anyway, would you like me to arrange a meeting, would Adam like to meet others?
EVE I’ll ask him, and let you know.
(fades to black)
Scene: Some weeks later. Adam and Eve have met with the other human beings. They haven’t said much about it to GOD, but are aware that GOD is watching them closely.
ADAM How do feel after meeting other people?
EVE Confused. They are physically similar to us, yet they are dissimilar: in the way react, and how they think. I guess we’ve been spoiled living in the Garden.
ADAM Do you want to meet them more often?
EVE For the sake of meeting other women, yes. The men freak me out a bit, the way they look at me and stare at me. It’s embarrassing. How about you?
ADAM I’m used to you. I enjoy your company.
EVE (blushes) that’s nice of you to say that; thank you.
ADAM Have you spoken to GOD again, recently?
EVE No, I’ve been thinking about what he said; and a feeling I’ve long had, that our days in the Garden may be numbered. I think there will come a time when we are asked to live elsewhere. Not totally sure of how I feel about that; frightened yet excited.
ADAM Are you going to talk to him?
EVE It will happen eventually.
(lights fade, change of scene)
Scene GOD encounters Eve while walking; starts a conversation
GOD Have you had your meeting with the others?
EVE Yes, a couple of times now.
GOD And …………..
EVE And … what?
GOD Your reaction, your thoughts?
EVE As I said to Adam, I enjoyed meeting the women, not so much the men. Adam and I are happy together.
GOD Your impression of them, collectively?
EVE They’re different, their environments have clearly affected their outlook, their learning, and their behaviour. Are you still thinking similar thoughts that you shared with me?
GOD Possibly. How well can or could you get on with them?
EVE Some of them? Easily; others would be more difficult.
GOD Even in a small population sample, you are noticing things.
EVE Yes. Are we going to be evicted from the Garden?
GOD Straught to the point, aren’t you?
EVE We’ve known each other and trusted each other for long enough, disregarding your failure to warn me about monthly bleeding, and Adam’s ummm extension.
GOD (smiles) will I ever be forgiven for that?
EVE Possibly.
GOD Eviction would be a harsh term. Separation of our ways might be a more appropriate phrase.
EVE Anything else?
GOD Not at the moment.
