The Night Before Exams

The numbers were dancing,

The chemical equations, in my head, bouncing,

My heart pounding hard,

And here the nervousness starts.

Suddenly, the clock strikes, and the sweat on my pen starts pouncing.

Aha! It’s pretty easy,

The air from the window was quite breezy,

I wrote quite relaxingly, enjoying the breeze on my face,

I checked the clock, no need to increase the pace,

And soon I began to get lazy.

Only two questions left, 

The time I cleft,

30 for the pen and 30 for the sleep,

So I slept in a sleep so deep,

Dreaming of the art of writing really very deft.

I awoke with an alarm,

Only ten minutes left, so move your arm!

I was oh so startled, there were two five markers remaining!

Guess what, the answers I knew just fluttered out, my pen feigning

To write, my face shamming to be calm.

I clutched my hair if only I could remember!

I buried my face in my hands, “Oh, what have I done! This shall happen NEVER!”

Then came a tap on my shoulder,

Was it the teacher, collecting the paper?

I hesitated to look up, then I shivered.

It was only my mom,

Waking me up, taking me along,

“It’s your exam today, c’mon, make haste!”

I was so pleased, that my surprised mom I braced!

That dream surely taught me a lesson to never be brash, but stay always calm.
