The Lady Next Door

There’s an old lady in her eighty’s, who lives next door.

When she feels lonely, she stands for hours at the door.

She smiles her toothless smile, and greets everyone,

As her daughter is no more, nor is her strapping son.

 She hobbles in her shorts, morning, noon and night;

 It is economical, and cool; though she looks a sight!

She talks in a low tone, her voice is now cracked;

Her vision is dim and blurry, is a sad and tragic fact,

But she is everybody’s darling, loved by one and all,

Wonderful to be a granny! Alas, awaiting God’s call!
