The Dreamless Dream
The Dreamless Dream
I yearn for a moment's extension,
A half-finished dream seeking completion.
Though you coax me, "It's but a dream,"
I cling tighter, unwilling to let go,
For I know the world you beckon me to is yet another dream.
I wish you too would awaken to this truth,
And let me spin this gossamer web of reverie.
Yet, your persistent light shines forth,
Awakening me to the reality of three temporal realms,
As I endeavour to piece them together,
You lead me to the crematorium of dreams.
There, my eyes behold the flames,
Long tongues of light, devouring dream carcasses.
Weathered, and distorted, their bodies crumble and turn to ashes,
I stand witness, as both the flames and dreams fade away,
Departing to the unknown, never to return...
What is this world you've awakened me to?
I yearn to slumber once more, cradled in your embrace,
Whisper to me a lullaby,
And grant me sleep without a dream's trace!
That is all I dream of...
