The Dreadful Sonnet

In the light, she sits in her dark corner,

Waves to the shadows that pass her by.

If only the sun would set any sooner,

She can stop pretending to try.

The light, as it fades away,

Takes her to the special place,

Where the light shines throughout the day,

And finally, she can feel safe.

The screams of silence, pierce through her soul,

She hangs on the frayed ends of sanity,

Hoping to find her way to the shore,

And lay her head down in serenity.

But, the feelings refuse to go,

She's left with nothing but darkness to show.
