The Conversation I Overheard
The Conversation I Overheard

Sitting listlessly in the backyard one day,
I overheard a conversation that made my day.
It was the wind who roused the giant sacred fig,
And it answered with a rustle amidst the twigs,
And the leaves whispered with a subtle zeal.
I did not understand a word of what they spoke,
but I did realize that the inspiration it evokes was deeper, stronger, and more stirring
Than what a thousand sermons could bring.
And the listlessness gave way to a healing feel.
Now I know that nature has the best remedy,
And the sweetest rhapsody and melody.
The sunshine, the moon glade, the drizzle and the breeze
The mossy rocks, the chirping birds, and the good old trees
All have wonders ready to reveal.
