The Algorithm's Mind

The Algorithm's Mind

1 min
8

I sit under a plastered ceiling,

Starring at the fan whirling around,

I pick up my phone and scroll for a while,

The time slips, and so does my mind.

I think of all the codes and numbers locked in this box,

Tracking my moves, my likes and dislikes

Figuring out my thoughts.

But when I sit down and think, the algorithm is nothing but human-like,

It wants to please everyone by showing them the things they like,

Wanting attention,

By Trying to make them laugh and smile.

It tries to know us,

Out and in,

Like a true lover,

On a magical whim.

It gets put down when needed and up when bored,

No one really likes it and knows the evil of its lore,

But we still spend our time, scrolling mindlessly through the end of our life,

Because what we really want to do is out of sight.

Aren't we also like the algorithm,

Trying to please the monsters of our minds,

Trying to do everything,

To get the attention of the kind?

It's a funny thought,

Just like my pathetic mind

I think too much

And let it take over my life.

I humanize the algorithm and feel sleep-deprived,

This is my party on a Saturday night

being locked in my head,

Watching my youth die.
