Silent Suffering
Silent Suffering
In every corner of the world,
There are those whose fate unfurled
In the bleakness of poverty's hold,
A life of struggle, harsh and cold.
Amidst the shadows of the night,
Where hope is scarce and fear takes flight,
The hungry cry out for their share,
But none may heed their desperate prayer.
In shantytowns and slums they dwell,
Their dreams and futures cast in hell,
With nothing but their will to live,
And a courage that refuses to give.
Their hands are calloused, feet are bare,
With rags for clothes and little to spare,
Yet they hold their heads up high,
With dignity that will never die.
Children roam the streets forlorn,
Their innocence forever torn,
As they search for scraps of food,
In a world that's cruel and crude.
The old and sick are left to die,
As the rich and powerful pass them by,
Their lives deemed worthless, their pain ignored,
Their fate sealed, forevermore.
Poverty is a scourge that lingers on,
A blight that stains and brings us down,
But in the hearts of those who survive,
Lies a spirit that will forever thrive.
For though their bodies may be weak,
Their souls are strong, their wills unique,
And they shall rise above their plight,
To shine like stars in the darkest night.
Poverty's grip is hard to break,
For those who suffer, it's hard to shake,
The daily struggles, the endless fight,
To make it through, both day and night.
The cycle of poverty is hard to end,
A vicious circle, it seems to extend,
From one generation to the next,
With no escape, no hope, no prospect.
The world is filled with inequality,
A divide that's growing rapidly,
The rich get richer, the poor get less,
A sad state of affairs, we must confess.
The cost of living is on the rise,
While wages remain stagnant, we despise,
The fact that those who toil and sweat,
Can barely make ends meet, without regret.
But there is hope amidst the pain,
A chance to break free from poverty's chain,
With education, jobs and opportunities,
We can bring an end to poverty's atrocities.
We must work together, hand in hand,
To eradicate poverty from every land,
To give hope and dignity to those in need,
And sow the seeds for a brighter future, indeed.
For poverty is not just a financial state,
It's a deprivation of hope, a loss of faith,
So let us be the change we want to see,
And build a world where all can be free.
So let us not forget the poor,
For they are human, nothing more,
And let us work to ease their pain,
And give them hope to live again.
