When poverty strikes

Reality bites

No food to eat

Torn clothes to neat

No house to live

You beg for someone to give

You live on the roads

Shelter you can't afford

Your life is miserable

As you are incapable

Of earning money

In your life's journey

You beg from door to door

You feel hopeless and low

As life has given you a blow

You grumble and woe

There is no water to have a bath

You don't know how to make a start

You sleep on the footpath

And are sad in your heart

You beg at temples

And thus feel life as an obstacle

Every day is difficult

You feel poverty is an insult

Your children are uneducated

They are underrated

You are in a bad state

And wish you had a better fate!
