Poem On Words
Poem On Words
Sticks and stones may break my bones but it's the words that hurt the most,
In this world, people may come and people may go,
But how many of them do we really know?
Ask yourself and you will find some answers,
Mind you, dear, those some were great masters,
Great masters like Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose,
Who served their country and in the world they are known,
For they had words, so powerful and humble,
When they spoke, hearts of millions would melt and tremble,
Words can be powerful, kind and calm,
So you must be pondering how can they harm you?
Well, I ask my friends worthy,
When words are spoken harshly,
We do not get discouraged and disheartened, don’t we?
After all, what enters a man’s mouth is not what is evil,
But what comes out of it, can be a devil,
Words that make or mar our speech,
So does the case of Mahabharata teach,
It was only the prophetic words of Draupadi,
Spoken to Durypdhana so sarcastically,
And then the Great War of Mahabharata was sparked,
Death and destruction it had marked,
Significant were the words that led to the downfall
Of the Trojans by Greeks who once stood tall,
Because Hector, their chief had died,
And words of his death led to the decline,
Words words and only words,
Words words and only words ruin emotion like swords,
Where harsh words don't work,
Sticks and stones may come into the light,
But don’t you forget, it’s the words that provoke any fight,
Words are like the gospel of truth,
They inspire, motivate all groups,
And every difficult situation surpasses,
Not for the one but for the masses,
Speaking kind and sweet words bring melody to our lives,
I can tolerate sticks and stone breaking my bones,
But not the harshly spoken words from the mouth that are thrown.
