Our Secret Cove
Our Secret Cove
It was a cove like none other.
Silky sand, gentle waves,
An aquamarine sea stretching endlessly.
Tiny sea shells dotted the beach.
The sandy bed could be seen crystal clear
Under the lapping waves.
Sailing in our white yacht
Further down the sea
We saw this cove.
Putting down the boat
We rowed immediately to it.
An empty, pristine beach
Almost out of 'Blue Lagoon'
With palm forests far behind.
A cerulean sky
Dipping to pay homage.
In the distance
A host of flying fish
Doing a spectacular water ballet.
A jellyfish washed ashore.
The kids gently helped it
Back into the approaching waves.
And we walked and ran from end to end.
Flopping down finally,
Soaking in the pristine
purity of our newfound beach.
The kids frolicked and fought,
Chased each other around,
While we remained lost in wonder,
And watched the clouds above smile down at us.
It was with a heavy heart
And dragging steps
That we finally boarded
Our lifeboat and rowed back.
Sailing away we bid adieu
To our little discovery.
And the flying fish did a final flourish
And bid us goodbye.
