Orange, White and Green

Orange, White and Green

Across the iron fence and the barbed wires,

Lay a bruised body coloured in Orange, White and Green,

The harsh wind rustles and his heart overflows with desires,

To see the face of his newborn, he grows keen,

Yet he suddenly remembers his duty towards his Nation,

Eyes food with a familiar sensation,

Memories of battle wounds, wars and Invasions,

Now leave his mind with no fascination,

He sees his faint shadow covered in blood,

He feels his soul ripping apart,

Like his soft flesh that has often ripped while he Lay there writhing in gore and mud,

He Lay there as the wind rustled his empty heart,

He, now, recalls his days like a panorama of light,

When there were no scars, no wars, no fights,

No wounds to reflect his plight,

Just joy, sunbeams and love in sight,

Yet all these regrets point to one truth,

That his wife and child stay asleep safely somewhere far away,

And that he has sacrificed his youth,

Not for the blood or emptiness, not for the regret or dismay,

But for the peace at the end of the War,

Yes, That is what he has fought these battles for,

So that his Nation's men and women see the dawn when it starts,

So that there's peace in their hearts.
