Oh Tell Me Politicians

Today is Bastille Day celebrations, think what you want to think,

Today is July 14, I feel it expedient differently to think, 

Though the day is a symbol of the end of monarchy, kings and queens,

In the name of democracy, exploitation is made by capital means.

The air in our humanity tastes sour,

 43year old lady under a lot of pressure, 

Finding it difficult to live in climbing life, 

Due to a financial crunch in a run of life, 

Mixed rat poison in the 'Chhola Bhatura',

For the launch made for children of her,

One a graduation student and the other,

A Class 9 student at Sardar Vinay Mandir.

Her husband was a patient with cancer,

Burden came to the lady to look after,

Maintaining the family working as a caretaker,

Pressure mounted to meet the college and school fees of the daughters,

Finding that she couldn't afford to be the mother,

By mixing rat poison, found them only unconscious,

Strangled the daughters since they were still breathing,

Then she tried to commit suicide herself by trying,

 A rope to the ceiling fan and spotted while trying.

While ascending in life, there may be sometimes falling,

Oh tell me politicians what matters to you for such falling,

When life is in tatters battling, battling and battling,

By price rise, unemployment and exploitation rising,

In a democracy, humanity is struggling and struggling,

Right to life, right to education of citizens, futile becoming,

A good day would come to people, illusory slogans are passing,

By the intense political churn, Bastille Day celebrations are petering 

Without thinking of price rise, unemployment, exploitation rising,

Human rights, democracy and the rule of law are breaching

July 14 is popularly associated with the Bastille storming,

What is it? What is it? 

For vote nationalistic rhetoric deploying.
