No Returns

Why is it, that when all you want is a good time?

All you get is hatred and pain?

When you want just love and joy,

Only the tears roll down like drops of rain.

The people you thought were friends,

Just turn their backs and walk away.

The people whom you made happy,

Do not think even once to stay.

Why is your life just like sand on the beach?

The people like waves just come and go.

But unlike the waves, they stamp their mark,

And how much that hurts, they’ll never know.

But why will they care? You’re no one.

No one they love, or even care for.

You’re just someone to pass their time,

Someone to be with when they are bored.

Sure, they’ll show like they do care.

Like it does matter to them whether you laugh or cry.

But the truth is that it hardly matters to them,

If you’re in pain, or low or high.

Just a word in their life’s book, is all you’ll ever be.

A fleeting glance is all you’ll get.

While you silently shed tears for them,

They’ll even forget that you ever met.
