New Beginnings

New year's new beginnings

But sometimes I am reflecting,

Is it only a new year or a new beginning?

For one, there are 12 months,

Like twelve chapters in a book.

A new month is a new beginning.

On every first of a month,

We can reflect and get a hook

Of what we will write in this chapter of the book.

Do we need to stop there?

For months fortnights are a pair,

Like fourteen pages in the book,

So, isn't a fortnight a new beginning?

Every fourteen nights,

We can select the words we write,

The words in every paragraph, 

Of the twelve chapters!

Do we need to stop there?

For fortnights are weeks in pairs,

Like seven pages in a book,

So every Monday,

Instead of calling it a stressful day,

We can pen the plans, and we may,

Have a productive seven days.

Do we need to stop there?

For weeks are seven days.

So we can decide for ourselves,

If we can have a peaceful day.

So on the first daylight hour,

Resolve to be productive,

And you will have a useful 24 hours.

New years are new beginnings,

But they aren't the only beginnings!
