Never again, never the same

The cold and bitter autumn makes its presence

And I am caught in a cycle that you’ve created.

Why don’t you return as promised?

All your words are just like smoke.

Leaves are falling just like my tears,

I am crawling in a corner, bleeding, crying…

I looked for you in my dreams and in reality,

With high hopes I kept waiting and waiting.

You’re hiding in the darkness and let me suffer.

You’re cruel, but I never stopped loving you.

The ghosts of the past start to haunt me in the night;

I know it’s wrong, but I find comfort in their presence.

The shadows of the night surround me like a shawl,

Taking away my pain, taking away my spirit…

I should give up and let it take me away…

But I have to remember that I should survive for them,

Those who never let me down…those who love me.

So I gather my strength and try to stand up…

Legs shaking, body aching, cuts deep into my flesh,

I pick myself up and stand my ground.

My light is coming out, surrounding me like a halo,

Protecting me from the wicked shadows.

I was never a fighter, never independent.

So now it’s my moment to shine.

All the shattered pieces of my heart are melting together,

My tears are dried up by the wind of the night,

My legs stopped shaking, my body stopped trembling.

I have to move on and live what’s left of my life.

Their encouraging words make me stronger than ever.

I can survive this raging battle and I can change everything.

The innocence you stole will never be regained,

But in a cruel world it is just a weakness which drags me down.

I have to open my heart to change and embrace the new me.

The battle inside will never break me down again.

I will follow the light into the darkness

And come triumphant from a war that lasted too long.
