My Journey

My Journey

The climb to the highest peak is forthcoming

Rivers of tears drowned me in the ocean bed of my misfortunes

Hovering clouds of fear enslaved me in my mind for years

Always at the door of my heart were his haunting words

Show me your land show me your identity you are nobody

Every knock of opportunity I turned down

Was blinded by doubt and fear saw no way out

The neighbourhood of violence sunk me deeper into the pit of fear

Caged bird of love that no longer bloomed

Buried in pain and shame I saw no way out of it

But that tiny deafening whisper urged me each day to come out

In time I heard her voice saying never give up my angel

I gathered the strength and walked out of hell's pit to be where I am today

My mother's loving caring voice sailed into my mind

Like a tree standing tall and will never be moved for I have a vision and a mission to complete.
