My English Teacher
My English Teacher
Bablu(myself), Bably, Vicky, Banty-
All of us are equally naughty,
All are witty and very sharp,
Our sayings and doings have no gap,
Bablu's father being a doctor,
Bably's brother is an engineer
Vicky's mother is an artist,
Banty's father is a dentist,
Bablu and Bably loved fighting,
And often deserved teachers' scolding
Vicky and Banty were always after food;
It conditioned their mindset and mood,
Their old teacher Abdul,
Was a great terror in school;
He taught them English
And insisted on endless writing practice,
Which the children found annoying,
Called Abdul's teaching bad and boring;
His severity was liked by none,
His was a nature fully inborn;
No student had ever seen him smile,
So he was an incarnation of wile.
It was strange once he praised me:
'All boys and girls look at Bubly's essay,
She will be surely famous one day.'
These unexpected words of praise
Helped me to build my special image
As a creative child writer
And each of three friends
Is now my staunch follower;
Nobody wants
To be a doctor or an engineer.
