Moving Out

Moving Out

Today, an alert from our housing main gate woke me up,

That the Packers & Movers truck was waiting at the gate.

Unaware and uncertain, I jolted out of my bed in a rather secluded city,

And I called the pick-up guy who confirmed to me – Yes! You have sold our bed!

As a b-school grad, I have read and heard of deals that were indeed hard to crack,

As business tycoons pen down thick case studies to show off their rich experience,

But now, this deal you have stuck has indeed stung me and put these tycoons to shame,

With pain, as I revisited those love-filled nights, when we slept for hours on that ill-fated bed

It's still hard for me to reconcile my present and past with this new reality - as today how it all stands -

You have finally moved out, destroying our little castle – that must have been built with sand.

I wonder how much profit you made by selling off that last piece of furniture we so lovingly owned,

Tell me – was it worth losing me, and securing your own future net worth?

I am not sure where we stand – as the tide of hatred ebbs back after wrecking our castle of love,

Tell me truly, can you use that ignominious tide to erase the last trace of my name from your heart?

Ahh well! perhaps it's easy for you to trade our love for cash – as your well-wishers envisage,

For something surely tells me that your distrust and cruel anger for me are here to stay!

Behind each other's back, as we keep on blaming our families,

For bringing upon this excruciating pain on us – as we were panting in this near-death relationship,

Today, if you ask me – I don't have a definition for our love, which until yesternight -

I believed it's about caring for your happiness even standing steadfast on this sinking ship!

Oh, captain of my Titanic! Know this that I stand firm on my demand for Trust and Respect, even before your "love",

For True love - sans your anger, distrust and humiliation, was what I always craved for!

My earnings may be humble today, but I will always be proud of having met you in this walk of life –

One who drenched herself in the Pyrrhic victory of having sealed a deal with the buyers for our bed -

That was the last testimony of our love, trapped inside a deserted inferno of anger and hatred.
