Marine Drive

Marine Drive

2 mins
1.8K

The pier stretches wide, shining under the city lights

It's a place people turn to to hang out, soak in the beauty and pass their nights

The gorgeous necklace adorns it, and the Queen is the city

The fact that it's name is associated with colonisers is a pity

The prettiest place I have ever known is part of the city in which I was born

It's the place I go to when I want to clear my head, or I feel forlorn

Marine drive is what they call it, magical is the word I use

It's a cure for the loneliness and emptiness inside, and it takes away the blues

It's the place people from other places find themselves at right when they decide to move there

As the waves hit the shore on rocks that have unique shapes and you feel the cool air

There are bubble makers sold there to help you embrace your inner child

It's a place where lovers have dropped each other's hands, while others have reconciled

I've spent three birthdays at the pier, kissed my partner and cut the cake

This is where I fell in love with my city and decided it was where I'd love to sleep and wake

It's a place where I had my nicest date, with beer and pizza and the right persons hands

And so I still call it the most beautiful place I've been, even though I've travelled to many beautiful lands
