Life of a Woman in the Village
Life of a Woman in the Village
The women of the village work together
From the village stream they bring water
The earthen pots are full to the brim
The hard work keeps them slim and trim.
There are no men in the village square
They have all gone to the village fair
In the village square they gather
They would have liked to go to fair rather.
Still it is not all that bad
They need not be sad
Enjoy the nice weather and frolic
Some dance, some clap, some just sit and rollick.
The sun is still shining bright
They are not resigned to their plight
They are enjoying the time to gossip
It pushes away the thought of hardship.
The daughters of the village
Go to the nearby town college
They have the knowledge and are aware
They can handle townsmen’s glare.
The village air is pure
But advancement opportunities are rare
The choices in life should be theirs
For it is life that is theirs.
