King Akbar’s Words of Wisdom…….

I am not a big fan of history,

But love a few kings of yore,

As they knew what’s good for us,

Even though it’s hundreds of years before!

One such king is, King Akbar the great,

He married Jodha, a Rajput princess,

He allowed her to worship Lord Krishna,

And even had a small temple in his name!

He encouraged her to practice and celebrate,

All her Hindu traditions and festivals,

He made sure he was present to participate too,

This religious tolerance truly made him Akbar the Great!

But, yet Jodha-Akbar’s love story, sublime in all ways,

Didn’t get much importance in History as always,

It should have been glorified much more,

For all of us to learn about it and not ignore!

He revered all religions the same way,

He embraced all his subjects as they were,

He said, ‘respect and tolerance of every religion,’

‘Is the most important key to a glorious Hindusthan.’

He knew this truth way back in the fifteenth century,

Why? After so many years, we are still blind now?

We still fight in the name of religion,

We very often speak of the majority and minorities!

Religion is used to cause divide,

Which only harms and has no face value,

We all know that united we stand, divided we fall,

We should always remember this and move forward!

If King Akbar knew it and followed it then,

We should move ahead in times and not backwards,

Treat all equally and live cordially,

Shun our differences and move ahead as one!
