In Search Of A Home!

In Search Of A Home!

I walk down the streets on lifeless nights, walking towards a house,

I see some rice strewn over the path and at them a nibbling mouse.

There come more mice and the mouse makes them some way,

As if he be presenting them a feast after a busy day.

I smile and cry alone on those crowded street, a street filled with my tears,

I drag along on the now empty street with all the pain of over the years.

I enter a house with some lives in it, happy with each other they are,

They look at me one eye full of hate and curse me for being there to bother at this hour.

'I have no place to go' I plead, 'please let me stay,

I have worked hard all day long before I could make here my way.

I promise to pay you, my masters what I shall owe to you,

I will not do any bad or cause a trouble too'.

With smirks and hatred they let me in and serve me with some rice,

I think of the food on the lonely street and the lovely little mice.

I stay under a roof people call a home where no one cares for me,

I dare not say my family it is that hates the life I be.

I wander out in my thoughts as I lay tied to my mattress,

I wander out in search of home that I can call mine in all distress.

I wish I could find a dwelling and with free mind and smile would roam,

I wish I find a place to dwell and call it my home...
