In Retrospect
In Retrospect
Only the skies I could see
With grey clouds scudding across them, so melancholy
My thoughts as clear as day
As I fell to my watery grave
Then was it, that realisation took hold,
Grasped me in her steel arms
And held me prisoner,
That my life was unfulfilled,
My story untold
The dreams I fostered yet to meet
Their ray of hope..
Yes, I fell to my watery grave
Afraid, not of death but of the life unlived..
I hit the water , my body submerged..
And I resurfaced in another world
Cold sweat on my face and neck,
Were reminders, like drying drops of water, after you've been rescued from a wreck.
And as I sat up on my bed
To do some rethinking
For the morrow is another new day, a second chance
To make the kaleidoscope of life more beautiful
In retrospect
