If You Could Read Her Eyes

If you could read her eyes

You would know all that she hides

Beneath her beguilingly worn smile 

Maybe there's a soul that cries.

If you could read her eyes

You would know how beautifully she lies

When the world rests dormant in the darkest while

Maybe you would discern her sighs.

Her eyes that are an exquisite hue of caramel

Would tell you that this world's been cruel

Enshrouded beneath the envelope of altruism

The gashes of her heart are brutal. 

You would not once descry her tears

Nor would she unveil her fears

You would inevitably catch her in a jovial state

For pretence is what she dears. 

If you could read her eyes

You would know she craved to touch the skies

Looking at the effulgent stars up there

On the sward, she lies.

To the wilder moors, her heart flies

Oh! If only you could read her eyes.
