​I have found emptiness in the middle of the dance floor

The music quiet down to just the sound of my heartbeat 

I have felt cold in the midst of summer 

Tears drowning me slowly while I hold on to the sheets

I have looked up to the sky and questioned the stars far too long 

Prayed that one of these cold nights will be warm again

I have watched birds as they soar above the ground and hear them sing

Wondered if they’re singing of joy or they too are screaming in pain 

I have looked at my hands and felt the pulse in my veins

Stared at those green blue lines- rivers that dry down to meet a desperate end

As the sun rise up at the peak of day 

I have asked myself when will my shadow be mine again?
