I Long For The Day
I Long For The Day
My little child no more loves cartoon
What Tom would do to Jerry soon……..
He’s rather in a combat suit
Kalashnikov, back-pack and all-weather boot;
He no more loves to play the games
We’d play, Tom, Dick, Harry and his uncle, James;
Dressed in camouflage and warrior-kit
He’s ready to deal the missile that would hit
His world, that’s full of guns and bombs
And stretches of fields with unknown tombs;
He kills, he dies and he rescues too
He even swoops the enemy lands with his crew;
“The war is not over, you know!” He says
Keeping my worries for him, at bays;
Enemies are everywhere, I now learn
From his gaze, towards the distant sky, stern;
I pray for him and pray for all of them
And long for the day when they will play a childish game.
