I Am Emily Jane Brontë

I Am Emily Jane Brontë

I am a hapless, young girl

Living with my poor siblings.

They are very close to me and

thus we're tied in silk strings.

I'm the second Brontë sister

and I live in Yorkshire.

I'm an orphan now but still

my parents’ teachings I admire.

My hope was cruel and timid ,

she kept me bitterly weeping.

While I was facing hard times ,

I believe she was peacefully sleeping.

Throughout my life I wrote and wrote

my feelings on papers, when it would rain.

People thought me gloomy and hapless

But nobody understood my real pain

Now as I lie in my frozen death bed

Thinking about my impending spring ,

I close my eyes and smile , since I feel

that very soon I'll fly above with my wings.
