How long will fake awards

Make me feel proud?

How long will false praise

Be said out loud?

Praising myself, giving myself a prize,

Just to make my family smile with lies.

The award show is a trick,

The thinking is wrong,

We clap for the fake,

And let it go on too long.

It’s time to change,

It’s time to clean—

Not just the place,

But what we mean.
