Freedom in Lockdown

Amidst in the lockdown I found my freedom, 

Ironic it may seem, 

How is that possible people screamed? 

“Why not’’, I said to them, 

I will tell you in this poem. 

I was a debtor in every kind, 

I begged for happiness and peace of mind. 

I begged for respect and love, 

All this, I didn’t get though. 

One day in this lockdown, 

God came in my dream. 

“What’s making you so unhappy?” he asked, 

I gave him all the reasons which made him laugh. 

What makes you laugh Dear God I asked? 

Child, you yourself are making your life hell, 

As if your mind is in some jail. 

Free your mind from the clutches of entanglements, 

To see how free you can be in your detachment. 

Free yourself from what others think of you, 

That’s their problem and it’s not for you. 

Free yourself from blaming others for your mistakes, 

It’s fine to err, rectify it and take a break. 

Free yourself from pleasing others, 

Rather learn to love yourself and move further. 

Live in your own sweet world and do something good, 

And see how well it will lift up your mood. 

Stop worrying so much about your future, 

You have today which you can nurture. 

With that dream, 

My life changed and perception changed, 

I accepted the situation that God had arranged. 

With acceptance came beauty in my life, 

And I felt I was splendidly alive. 

Lock it down or unlock it now, I don’t care 

My freedom is within my mind and now I am aware.
